I am an experienced child, family and couples Psychotherapist. I have a background in Psychology and have previously worked as a Social Worker mostly in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) context within the NHS.
I have over 15 years experience of working within CAMHS settings (Core and Neurodevelopmental CAMHS) and in working with complex (caring) systems and services.
As I love the richness of my work within the NHS; alongside the Circle Therapy Space I continue to work in CAMHS with Looked-After Young People and their caring systems which includes extended family members, (Special Guardianship Carers) foster carers and their families, residential home staff and social workers).
I have extensive experience of working with various mental health challenges, such as functional issues, (when psychological symptoms are connected to emotional factors), worries, low mood, self-harm, trauma; the impact of children’s mental and physical health on siblings and parents/couples; child-on-carer aggression; co-parenting family dynamics, blended families though fostering/adoption; families experiencing conflict; disconnection and communication breakdown and family estrangement.
Some of the training I have completed and incorporate into my therapeutic work includes:
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP, Levels 1 & 2)
Emotionally Focused Couples Training (Externship)
Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)
Non-Violent Resistance (Level 1)
Sandstory
Understanding Autism (NHS England-Anna Freud, co-delivered by an autistic trainer)
this could be diagnosed emotional and/or physical health needs that may benefit from broader thinking.
this could be with a partner, a child or your family members or in your care as a foster r kinship carer
checking that you are talking about the issues and difficulties most pressing to you.
I am experienced in working with children, young people and adults and couples/relationships.
